Branching out..

Tonight marks the release of a new series of products from @thaphlash and I, Go Launcher EX themes! A couple weeks ago, I brought up the idea with him and we decided it would be worth looking into. We had to wait for them to release a template and once they did, I began working on it.

Of course, the first theme I decided to port over was Eyefold. It's still my favorite to date. The cool thing about Go Launcher is that the themes are allowed to do a bit more theming in the app drawer than you can with ADW. So it's a fresh area for us to create new assets for. There are some drawbacks though. The biggest is that we are limited to just 341 icons that can be included with a theme. This is due to limits on how much memory can be allotted to how they list the icons. I've written to the developers and hope they can come up with a solution. I was able to overcome this barrier in ADW, but there was more code for me to place with than I have available to me with GLEX (my acronym moving forward).

In addition, there is currently no ability to have more than the one dock style. With all these limitations, the prices on the GO Launcher themes will be lower to compensate. If ever things change so we can offer more, the prices may rise.

Depending on the adoption rate of this initial offering, you may see more and more of our past works migrated over to this launcher as well. In the meantime, thanks for checking in. More works are in progress so stay tuned!

Krom, Shag and Wood.

Three new themes will be hitting the market this week. @thaphlash has been hard at work and delivered three new AMAZING icon sets which I'll be fully utilizing in these new themes. In fact, the new themes are solely due to the new icon packs. I'm fitting the rest of the work to match them. What else is on the horizon? Well, we should be getting some new Eyefold icons soon. That'll be welcome as we've been waiting on those for awhile! As for new, new stuff... there isn't much on the horizon. I am going to be looking into making some of the ADW Themes available on another launcher soon in order to give more people access to the designs we're pushing. So stay tuned!

Eyefold

This has been a really quick turn around from idea to market. I had the images in my head for awhile and then decided just 3 days ago to get cracking on it... and now its going to be in the wild. Everyone that has run the early versions has been really positive about it on whole and to be honest, my excitement has also been really high once I saw it on my phone. I'm sure someone will be able to tell where I got the influence from for the whole thing as I made some pretty good replicas of the source material. Anyways, this is the biggest theme (size-wise) that I have released yet. I think its around 8mb right now and doesn't have nearly as many icons as it will eventually. Speaking of icons - I am so happy that this whole deal worked out. I've been a really big fan of Phlash's tha icon set and as soon as this whole theme started to form, I knew I had to use them. They just work with what I wanted for overall presentation. Now I've been in discussion with him and we're going to begin working on bolstering the amount of market apps that have custom icons. The number is really low right now but we are aiming to add 150 minimum to the current roster. I've still got the whole list from kovicons so that'll be handy to know what people want to see. My biggest concern right now is going to be the market comment rage. I purposely added the beta tag to hopefully cut some slack. To be honest, I don't think its actually in a beta stage. I mean, I wanted to add a custom folder look, but for the most part, everything is in place. And I've spent too much time working on this stuff today so... I'm out.
